Jalen Adams closes Winter Showcase with a big performance

The Salt Lake City Stars (Utah Jazz) were crowned NBA G-League Winter Showcase champions Sunday. Salt Lake City defeated the Grand Rapids Drive (Detroit Pistons) 91-88 in overtime at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. Members of the Stars will split the $100,000 first place prize. Salt Lake City is riding a 13-game winning streak. 

Jalen Adams was the most efficient player (per-minute) on a winning team during the final day of play at the Showcase. Adams, of the Erie Bayhawks (Pelicans affiliate), scored 37 points (15-21 FG, 4-6 3-pt., 2-2 FT), with nine rebounds and four assists in 33 minutes. Erie defeated Greensboro 112-102. Rabb rolls to big day at Winter Showcase

Rabb should be in the NBA full-time. 
Ivan Rabb was the most efficient player (per minute) Friday at the NBA G-League Winter Showcase. The Westchester Knicks' power forward scored 18 points (7-14 FG, 2-3 3-pt., 1-1 FT), grabbed 15 rebounds, and 3 assists in just 24 minutes. Swanigan stands out on Day One of Winter Showcase

Caleb Swanigan of the Stockton Kings was the most efficient player (per-minute) on the opening day of the G-League Winter Showcase. The 22 year-old pivot scored 16 points (7-10 FG, 2-3 FT), and grabbed 13 rebounds off the bench, in 22 minutes. Brandon Clarke stands out in semifinals

Brandon Clarke, the 21st pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, was the most efficient player Sunday during the semifinals of the NBA Las Vegas Summer League. Clarke scored 23 points (7-10 FG, 0-2 3-pt., 9-11 FT), and grabbed 14 rebounds in 24 minutes for the Memphis Grizzlies. Clarke also had the winning basket, a double-pump dunk!  The Grizzlies beat the New Orleans Pelicans in overtime 88-86.

Jarrett Allen owns second Saturday of Summer League

Jarrett Allen, Center for the Brooklyn Nets, was the most efficient player Saturday across eight NBA Las Vegas Summer League games. Allen scored 30 points (11-15 FG, 0-1 3-pt., 8-10 FT), and added eleven rebounds, two steals and two blocked shots in just 24 minutes. The Nets defeated the Detroit Pistons 105-85 to advance to the semi-finals of the championship tournament. Other quarterfinal winners were Memphis, Minnesota, and New Orleans.

Dozier dazzles on "consolation day" in Vegas

P.J. Dozier of the Philadelphia 76'ers was the most efficient player (per-minute) during action Friday in the NBA Las Vegas Summer League. The Sixers beat the Toronto Raptors 108-102. Dozier, who spent last season as a two-way player for the Boston Celtics, scored 22 points (8-14 FG, 4-7 3-pt., 2-2 FT), with seven rebounds, and seven assists in 24 minutes. Dozier is a 6'6" guard that is still just 22 years-old.

Robert Williams incredibly efficient Thursday

Robert Williams III, a second year center for the Boston Celtics was the most efficient player Thursday in the NBA Las Vegas Summer League. Williams scored 16 points (7-9 FG, 2-3 FT), grabbed 16 rebounds, and dished four assists in just 20 minutes. Boston thrashed the Memphis Grizzlies 113-87. 

Thursday's action ended the preliminary round of play in the Las Vegas Summer League with the top eight teams advancing to the Championship Tournament which begins Saturday. Boston emerged as the top seed, followed by Detroit, Minnesota, New Orleans, Miami, Dallas, Brooklyn, and Memphis. Friday will feature teams that did not make the cut.

Bruno Caboclo was the most efficient player on a winning team during play on day two of the 2019 NBA Las Vegas Summer League. Caboclo scored 19 points (7-9 FG, 2-4 3-pt., 3-4 FT), grabbed five rebounds, and came up with a pair of steals and blocked shots in his 22 minutes for the Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizzlies hammered the Indiana Pacers 101-75. 

Caboclo is now 23 years old. He is 6'9" but has a 7'7" wingspan. He signed a a multiyear contract with the Grizzlies in February.

Earthquake! Gafford glorious on Day One in Vegas.

A magnitude 7.1 earthquake centered in Ridgecrest, California, was felt strongly in Las Vegas during the evening games of the 2019 NBA Summer League at the Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavilion. The rolling quake hit at 8:19 pm. The final 7:53 of play in the New Orleans Pelicans / New York Knicks game was canceled. The Orlando Magic / San Antonio Spurs game was halted after three quarters.  

The most efficient player on the opening day of action in Las Vegas was Daniel Gafford. The Chicago Bulls rookie BIG had 21 points, ten rebounds, and four blocked shots in 28 minutes. He was a second round pick in 2019 (38th overall). The Bulls routed the summer version of the Los Angeles Lakers 96-76. 2019 NBA Summer League. Keenan Evans stands out on day three.

Keenan Evans (Texas Tech 2018) was the most efficient player during action Wednesday across the two NBA Summer Leagues that wrapped up in Sacramento and Salt Lake City. Evans, who was undrafted in 2018, scored 20 points, grabbed three rebounds and snared two steals in 18 minutes for the summer version of the Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizzlies beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 81-68. Evans played last season in the NBA G League for the Delaware Blue Coats.

Devontae Cacok, an undrafted free agent from North Carolina Wilmington, was the most efficient player on the second day of NBA Summer League 2019.
