Day four in Vegas, Goodwin good in win

Archie interviewed by Ros
Archie Goodwin continued to look like a player that could play rotation minutes in the NBA. The 6'5", 205 lb. combo guard was able to get to the rim virtually at will in Brooklyn's 95-66 beatdown of New Orleans. Goodwin was the most efficient player (per-minute) during Monday's day four action at the NBA Las Vegas Summer League. Goodwin scored 18 points (6-9 FG, 2-3 3-pt., 4-6 FT), dished eight assists (with only one turnover), and blocked two shots in 20 minutes off the bench.

Given the crowded state of the Brooklyn backcourt heading into the 2017-18 season (Lin, D Russell, Dinwiddie, LeVert, Whitehead, Kilpatrick, Hollis-Jefferson), we would advise all NBA teams to see what the cost of Goodwin is. In a small sample size, Goodwin rated eighth out of 97 in efficiency per-minute among two-guards in 2016-17. He finished the season with a 1.71-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio, and his defense was excellent too. He was eighth in DEFRTG differential among that same pool of shooting guards. Critics will point to his inconsistent perimeter shooting but Goodwin seems to be making some strides in that regard (33% 3-pt. last season).

Focusing strictly on the positives, Goodwin is a terrific two-way player that still has room to grow at just 22 years of age.
