Vegas day three; Layman stars as Blazers roll

Jake Layman scored 23 points (9-14 FG, 4-5 3-pt., 1-1 FT), added four rebounds, two steals, and two blocked shots in just 20 minutes Sunday as the Portland Trailblazers kept the Atlanta Hawks 0-for-the-summer with a decisive 85-68 victory. Layman was the 47th pick overall in 2016. He has appeared in 70 NBA contests over the course of his first two seasons. The 6'9" forward has a nice combination of athletic ability and an improving shooting stroke.

Joining Layman on the Hoop Obsession All-NBA Summer League Team for day three (July 8, 2018)...

Johnathan Motley - Dallas. 20 points (8-10 FG 4-6 FT), 7 rebounds in 23 minutes.

Marcus Derrickson - Golden St. 23 points (8-14 FG, 2-5 3-pt., 5-7 FT), 7 rebounds in 21 minutes.

Mitchell Robinson - New York. 12 points (6-8 FG), 11 rebounds, 2 blocked shots in 22 minutes.

Willy Hernangomez - Charlotte. 22 points (10-18 FG, 1-4 3-pt., 1-1 FT), 10 rebounds in 29 minutes.

Sindarius Thornwell - Clippers. 22 points (7-12 FG, 3-6 3-pt., 5-7 FT), 6 rebounds, 4 assists in 26 minutes.

Wade Baldwin - Portland. 7 points (3-7 FG, 1-1 3-pt.), 10 assists, 2 steals in 24 minutes.

Georges Niang - Utah. 20 points (8-13 FG, 2-4 3-pt., 2-2 FT), 8 rebounds, 2 steals in 28 minutes.

Jaron Blossomgame - San Antonio. 22 points (8-11 FG, 1-1 3-pt., 5-5 FT), 9 rebounds, 2 blocked shots in 31 minutes.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander - Clippers. 21 points (8-16 FG, 1-3 3-pt., 4-6 FT), 8 rebounds, 3 steals in 26 minutes.

Troy Brown - Washington. 21 points (8-17 FG, 0-4 3-pt., 5-6 FT), 12 rebounds, 3 steals in 31 minutes.

R.J. Hunter - Houston. 24 points (8-14 FG, 5-11 3-pt., 3-3 FT) in 25 minutes.

It is extremely difficult to make the Hoop Obsession daily All-Summer League team. With ten games per day, and only 12 spots on our daily "best of", many excellent performances go unmentioned.

If we added a "second team" for Sunday's games, the players on it would include: Thomas Bryant, De'Anthony Melton, Jonathan Stark, Dorian Finney-Smith, Jonathan Isaac, Jordan Loyd, Rashad Vaughn, Justin Jackson, Keita Bates-Diop, Landry Nnoko, Diamond Stone, and Travis Trice.
